Our view - The Proform 748 EKG has many features you'd normally associate with a higher priced bike. It's also quite stylish and has a comfortable gel saddle that can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally so most users should be able to find a good riding position.
The console is easy to use and has a good backlit display that shows all you need to know such as calories, time, distance, heart rate etc. The handles on the console have grips to measure your pulse for the heart rate programmes but there are no sensors on the racing handles. There is also a polar chip to use with a chest strap (not included) which offers better accuracy. Heart rate programmes are a great way to burn fat as they keep your pulse at an optimum level for burning the calories.
The console is also compatible with iFit cards, personal trainer workouts on a card much like the sort you use with a digital camera. You can buy these for around a tenner and can be a good way to add something new to your training for extra motivation - click here to see an iFit programme available from Sweatband Fitness.
The cycling action is quite smooth, although not quite as smooth as the Bremshey Cardio Pacer, the pedals are a good shape and have straps to keep your feet in place. It comes with a bottle holder but for some reason it's situated at the front of the bike so some may find it a bit awkward to reach.
The warranty is two years parts and labour which is what you'd expect for the price.
A great bike packed with features for a very reasonable price.
